The main pool is spacious and suitable for leisure swims or lengths and is fitted with a hydraulic lifting chair for the disabled. There is one main water slide which is highly popular, set amongst several leisure pools and plenty of wide open spaces for relaxing in the sun on a lounger or under the shade of a sun umbrella. Its charm, however, is in its variety and family atmosphere. The park is highly popular during the summer months with locals and tourists seeking a place to relax and have fun in the sun, as well as with family groups.įor guests looking for adrenalin-pumping kamikaze rides and high-speed descents this water park may disappoint. The park forms part of an entertainment and leisure complex with water slides, pools, leisure areas, restaurant and a large entertainment stage. Allthough we weren't there the entire day the time spent was awesome, maybe mostly 'cos of the company, so choose yours wisely. The Parque Aquático do Crato is located in the town of Crato, Alentejo in central Portugal. It was day very well spent, don't regret nothing. We didn't come here to SAVE money so what the hell. So the SAM bus would probably be the easiest way to move around, but as usual the bus is the chepeast. Then we took the bus (2,75€/face) to Funchal. We wondered around quite bit, before my better half made me to ask for advice on some little shop on the village ) Like the biggest pair of tourist Madeira had ever seen. We came back with a little adventure at heart. Taxi was 20€'s one way from Fuchal center. So we went by the minimum, but it was all we needed at that day. We slided in two different slides and bathed in the slow river. There were not much slides for bigger folks, but plenty for kids and prices were very affordable. On wednesday we went to Santa Cruz to spent a day in sun and water. We came to Funchal on monday 10th in July. I would not recommend this place to my worst enemy never mind someone looking to have a great holiday. The only thing that needs saving is that water park. They just shrugged there shoulders and tried to charge us 10 Euro for a photo of me being attacked by the parrot saying to save the animals. After spending half an hour there which was already far too long we decided to leave where we was greeted by staff asking why we was leaving and we said we wasn’t allowed on any of your rides. Little did we know one slide didn’t work and the other one was a death trap which threw my girlfriend head first into the barrier which has given her concussion. This meant me and my girlfriend could only go on two slides which was already enough. As we arrived in the water park we found out there was a sports day on for a school which meant they shut all the rides unless you was part of the school. The parrot was put on my shoulder and started attacking my neck and ear and the woman just stood and watched. We were greeted by a woman with a parrot on arrival to get a photo. I do not even know where to begin with this water park. Photos quite pricey as same price as an adult entry Little one loved 'meeting' 'Mickey' and 'Minnie' (or as we said Miguel and Maria Mouse!). The show was all in Portuguese so we would have liked a bit of translation but appreciate its a Portuguese island!Ĭafe was very reasonably priced with lots of family friendly food. Felt like the small cages and baskets the animals were in was concerning. The animal show was ok (not sure about parrots riding bikes!) but the flights of the larger birds of prey were impressive. The bigger slides were good and would keep older kids and adults occupied! More shade is needed so the young kids can get out of the sun for a while but it's too windy for parasols. The lazy river didn't have much of a current and there weren't enough rubber rings so people had to wait a long time for people to finish with them. A major negative was that there were lots of paint chips in this pool, let alone leaves etc, which weren't nice to walk/ swim in. The pools were very cold though and the main small pool is a little tired. There are lots of little slides which were perfect for our 5 year old. It is a very small water park but great for younger children for an afternoon.
